Workshop Topics

The Learning Tree: Overcoming Learning Disabilities from the Ground Up (6 hrs.)

Taught by Stanley Greenspan, M.D.

This workshop combines video and audio lectures to explore how The Learning
Tree model can help with understanding and treating learning disabilities. Dr. Greenspan discusses the sensory system, executive functioning, developmental levels and academic achievement. This workshop explores, for the first time, how to strengthen weaknesses in the sensory processing system through identifying and using a child’s developmental capacities and relationships.

A Lifespan Approach to Autism (6 hrs.)

Taught by Stanley Greenspan, M.D.

As more and more individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders are reaching adolescence and adulthood, it is vital to help them mobilize their development just as we may have done when they were children. This workshop explores different types of individuals at different levels of functioning and demonstrates and describes the best ways to advance their development. The workshop includes video examples.

Meltdowns: Helping Infants, Children and Adolescents Overcome Behavior Problems, Aggression and Tantrums (8 hrs.)

Taught by Stanley Greenspan, M.D.

This workshop presents basic principles for helping children with special needs, including autistic spectrum disorders, overcome different kinds of meltdowns and aggressive behaviors. In the audio and video files, a number of cases illustrate the different principles in age groups ranging from infants to adolescents. This workshop is especially helpful for parents and all professionals who work in educational, home, office, or clinical settings.

Regulatory Sensory Processing Disorders (10 hrs.)

Taught by Rosemary White, OTR/L

Understanding the child’s sensory profile is essential for all interactions and learning. This workshop examines the sensory modulation continuum of sensory regulation and response to stimuli and how it influences behavior, attention, impulse control, postural control, motor control, motor planning, and functional skills. It explores sensory, motor, and emotional patterns underlying challenges in relating and communicating.

Workshops may qualify for Continuing Education Credits.
