FAQs

Where is the conference?

The conference is online, i.e. on the Internet. There is no physical location for the conference which means you do not need to go anywhere to participate, except to a computer connected to the Internet. When is the conference? The Basic Course on the DIR/Floortime Model is divided into 15 segments of approximately one hour in length. All the segments will be available for viewing beginning on Friday, March 12 and continuing through Sunday, May 9, 2010. During this period you will be able to access the entire course 24 hours a day, each day.

Who is the conference for?

The Basic Course on the DIR/Floortime Model is designed for professionals and parents—anyone who lives or works with children with developmental disorders including autism spectrum disorders.

What is an online conference?

Traditional conferences involve the cost of travel to the conference location and staying in a hotel. An online conference uses the Internet as the conference ‘venue.’ This means that you can access the conference from anywhere in the world and at any time during the day or night. You choose the schedule. You can log on for as little or as long as you want, an hour a day or for 6 hours at a time, before or after work, on weekends and evenings. Anyone with access to the Internet can participate (as long as they are registered!). Everything you would find at a traditional conference is available to you online. All the conference handouts will be posted for you to read and/or download, you will be able to ask questions and enter into chats with other conference participants, posting messages at the Interactive Bulletin Board.

What are the advantages of an online conference?

Traditional conferences mean participants have to travel and stay in a particular place. This takes time and is expensive. An online conference uses the Internet as the conference venue. This means that you can access the conference from anywhere in the world and at your convenience. Anyone with access to the Internet can participate.

Will I be able to ask questions?

Yes, you will be able to submit questions for Dr. Greenspan to answer. The responses will be posted on the conference site for everyone to see.

Will I be able to interact with other conference participants?

Yes, we will have an interactive bulletin board where you will be able to post messages for other participants to read and respond.

Is there a way to evaluate how well I understand the material?

Yes, there will be opportunities for selfassessment throughout the Course. You will receive feedback on your responses so you will be able to evaluate your comprehension of the material that was presented. In addition, interested participants will also have the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of the basic concepts presented during the Basic Course. Those that are successful will receive documentation of their mastery of the Basic Course.

Do I need any special equipment or software?

No, just access to the Internet and a browser, though we recommend a high speed Internet connection to view the course videos.

Can more than one person share a log-in?

No, each participant needs to register separately and pay the $175 registration fee to log-in. Only one person per log-in.

Can we register as a group and receive a group discount?
