Requirements to earn CEUs for Speech and Language Pathologists

The New York State Education Department also accepts this course for CTLE credits for SLPs.

See their website for requirements. http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/resteachers/Registration_CTLE_home.html

There are five basic requirements to earn ASHA CEUs.

1. Complete the course.

2. Take and pass the Mastery Test.

3. Complete and submit the evaluation.

4. Download and print the ASHA Participant form, fill it out and send it us within two weeks of the end of the cycle.  (We do not need copies of your Evaluation and Mastery Test certificates).

5. Meet the deadlines.

For ASHA CEU Eligibility Requirements, please see: https://www.asha.org/CE/for-providers/Eligibility-for-Earning-ASHA-CEUs/

1. Complete the Course/Workshop
When you register for the professional course, you have 90 days to complete it, including taking the Mastery Test and course evaluation. You can do it all in less time if you wish. When you have completed it, you may take the Mastery Test at any time within that 90 day period. (See #5-Deadlines-for the coordination with the ASHA requirements.)

2. Take and Pass the Mastery Test
For the Professional Course Mastery Test,

  • Click on Lecture 18 (Mastery Test) in the left-hand lecture list.
  • Your course purchase includes two (2) attempts at the mastery test.  IMPORTANT NOTE:  Do not open the Mastery Test until you are prepared to take it. Once it is open, your test will activate immediately and must be completed within 24 hours. Do not navigate away from the test or close the window in which you are taking the test. Your answers will be lost.
  • Click on ‘Take the Mastery Test’  on the right-hand side of the page and follow the instructions.

A passing test score is 75%. You will receive your electronic score immediately after submitting the test. (If you do not receive the results, let us know right away.) Should you score below 75%, you will have a second opportunity to take the test. Please contact our site administrator to ensure you have access. If you do not pass, do not fill out the ASHA Participant Form; you will not be eligible for ASHA CEUs.

3. Complete and Submit the Evaluation
Your course evaluation allows us to improve the course where possible—a requirement of ASHA. You will find the evaluation on the right of the course video viewing page. Once you complete the evaluation, a certificate of participation will generate. This certificate features the number of course hours if this is something your professional organization requires.

4. Download, print, and send us (not ASHA) the ASHA Participant form

TGFA receives information on the first three requirements electronically. However, for you to receive CE credits, we must receive the fourth requirement, the ASHA Participant Form, directly from you. The ASHA Participant Form contains your critical identification information for ASHA. We cannot submit your results without it. You must complete the form and send the original to:

The Greenspan Floortime Approach®
c/o The Floortime Center
4827 Rugby Ave.
Bethesda, MD 20814

Use the following information to complete the top line of the form:

PROVIDER CODE: AAWE

COURSE NUMBER: 1712–Professional Course

COMPLETION DATE:  Date you took and passed the Mastery Test

5. Deadlines
Our ASHA reporting cycles end on the last day of each month. If you pass the Mastery Test any time within a particular month, your results will be credited to you for that month if we receive it within two weeks after the month ends. (When you started doesn’t matter.) Otherwise, your results will be credited for the following month.

After receiving our forms, ASHA may take an additional month to process your credits. For instance, if you take a Mastery Test in June, you may not see the credits posted to your record until September.
