Rules for Participation in Greenspan Discussion Groups:
“QuAC”
Greenspan Discussion Groups offer a comprehensive exploration into Dr. Greenspan’s work, prioritizing a rich learning experience. Unlike programs that may have simplified their training for online delivery, we recognize that mastering Greenspan Floortime is a journey. Our free and member-exclusive groups provide a dynamic platform for this journey through engaging discussions, case analyses, video review, and exploration of key concepts. We foster collaborative learning where two-way communication is essential. This means that if you are attending a Greenspan Discussion Group, you are either asking Questions, Answering them, or making Comments (QuAC).
- Questions can be about anything related to the ideas being discussed. Some of the best questions are ones that connect the ideas being discussed to specific children in your care and situations you often run into when providing therapy.
- Answers to questions being asked by the group facilitator will usually need to include information and/or ideas from Dr. Greenspan’s framework. When in doubt the answer is usually ‘emotions’ or ‘the emotional system’.
- Comments can be an analysis of the big picture concept that is being discussed or an identification and description of one of Dr. Greenspan’s Milestones or Greenspan Floortime techniques. Other observations are also welcome, but try to consistently use the Dr. Greenspan’s framework to practice developing a specific ‘lens’ through which to view early childhood development.
Think of it as a collaborative learning experience where everyone contributes to a richer understanding. We may occasionally call on participants to share their perspectives or ask/answer questions, but our aim is to create a supportive and comfortable environment for everyone. We believe that by actively engaging with the material and each other, we can all deepen our understanding of Dr. Greenspan’s work and its practical applications.
Please prepare yourself by reading any relevant articles or information, and reviewing any videos and annotations that have been shared prior to the meeting.
